Thomas Ferede is an entrepreneur, investor and advisor. He has had a successful record of founding and growing companies, investing and exiting investments, and providing strategic and fundraising advisory services to companies across a variety of sectors in Africa and the west. He is the managing director of a company where he restructured operations resulting in sales growth 4x and profits 20x in five years. He is also the co-founder of one of Ethiopia’s first technology enabled and data driven distribution and logistics companies that helped Diageo achieve 3x growth in sales in seven months. He has previously helped found one of the top technology companies in London which has raised over $50million in venture funding from the premier angels and venture capital firms that include Benchmark, Index Ventures and Yuri Milner. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Thomas’ career was in finance. Thomas was a private equity investor at Development Partners International (DPI), an Africa-focused fund based in London, and principal equity and debt investor at the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC). He began his finance career in investment banking at JP Morgan advising companies in the Technology, Telecom and Media sectors with mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity fundraising. Thomas was a scientist with NASA in his teens with published work in various research journals. Thomas holds a BSc in Computer Science from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
